ACADEMICS:
The MS Anchor Program
The Middle School Anchor Program serves as the foundation of The Harbor Academy’s curriculum for grades 6–8, providing students with a rigorous and well-rounded educational experience that supports both academic and personal growth. To progress through each grade level, students must successfully complete a core set of academic courses, outlined below, along with the required credit benchmarks for promotion.
In addition to their academic coursework, students participate in a Middle School Harbor Capstone, which emphasizes community service, social-emotional learning, and the development of leadership skills. This program is designed to help students build critical thinking abilities, strong communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
By integrating practical learning opportunities alongside traditional subjects, the Middle School Anchor Program prepares students to navigate real-life challenges, collaborate effectively, and become confident, compassionate learners as they prepare to enter high school and beyond.

Middle School Harbor Capstone
Throughout their time in middle school at The Harbor Academy, students will be encouraged to actively engage with and contribute to the life of their school community. One of the ways we foster this involvement is through Middle School Harbor Mission Days, which focus on school-based service projects and leadership development. During their 6th and 7th grade years, students will participate in various activities that support and enhance the Harbor Academy community, helping them explore their interests and strengths as contributors and leaders. In 8th grade, this work culminates in a Middle School Harbor Capstone, requiring students to complete a sustained leadership or service project within the school, along with a written reflection and oral presentation on their experience and the impact of their contributions.
